Mission

The spread of Islam by these missionaries was accompanied by the introduction of spiritual Orders or Silsilahas in Kashmir.  Among the luminaries accompanying Mir Sayyid Ali Hamdani R.A , mention may be made of Sayyid Shams Ud Din Shami R.A. Almost all the chronicles have mentioned a brief account about him. However it was his progeny who have caught the lime of the light due to their contribution in the religious and spiritual domain of Kashmir. One such great saint from the descendants was Mir Sayyid Shah Qasim Haqani R.A. Since the times of Hazrat Sayyid Shah Qasim R.A, the dynasty was renamed as the Haqani Sufis. Almost all the saints of this dynasty over the centuries were great mystics or Sufis of their times, many were great religious scholars too, and many of them were authors of great repute, producing religious treatises, literary and history works besides hagiographies.  It is in memory of these saints, from Mir Shams ud Din Shami down to the present times and to preserve and highlight their contribution that  Haqani Memorial Trust Jammu and Kashmir has been established.
